Popcorn Ceiling Removal by Eagle Painting

Popcorn ceilings used to be very popular in homes, but that was a while back – about the middle of the last century to be exact. Also known by other names, such as acoustic ceiling, textured ceiling, stucco ceiling, or even cottage cheese ceiling, it fell out of favor and is no longer popular today.

The problem with popcorn ceiling isn’t just that it’s now outdated, but that it might contain a form of asbestos. We all know that asbestos is potentially dangerous to our health, which means that homes and the families that live in it aren’t safe until it’s removed.

Popcorn Ceiling Removal Company in Keller!

Homeowners should never attempt to remove popcorn ceilings themselves because of the potential danger. Simply rubbing the surfaces could release asbestos into the air and that’s going to put entire families at risk. So if you’re a homeowner, you need to call the experts for this sort of project – and in Keller and surrounding cities, that happens to be Eagle Painting!

Benefits of Popcorn Ceiling Removal

There are benefits to popcorn ceiling removal, aside from the one about removing the asbestos. For one, you’ll be able to make a change to the texture of your ceilings and walls. That will allow you to update the look and style of your home’s interior.

Your spaces are also going to look fresher and cleaner, not to mention more finished. It also becomes easier to update it and make it a lot more modern if that’s what you want for your spaces. The old and outdated look will be a thing of the past, for sure.

Popcorn ceiling removal also impacts your home if you’re planning on eventually selling it. By having your old popcorn ceiling removed, you’re also making your home more attractive to potential buyers. Very few people would consider getting a home that looks so outdated and several decades behind when it comes to its style.

Then there’s the health aspect that’s apart from the one that involves asbestos. Because the surface of the popcorn ceiling is quite rough, dust and grime can easily build up there. Those spaces aren’t easily accessible so you would have a hard time cleaning them. If family members are suffering from asthma or other allergies, then they’re bound to be affected. By getting rid of the popcorn ceiling, your home becomes cleaner and your family healthier.

Our Popcorn Ceiling Removal Process

Our popcorn removal process is pretty simple and straightforward.

We start with making sure that all light switches and fixtures are removed. If there is furniture in the room that needs to be removed, then we’re going to make sure of that as well.

Any furniture that remains and also the flooring would be covered so that they would be protected from any falling debris.

Our team will saturate the ceilings and walls before scraping off the popcorn surface. We’re going to scrape off large pieces and chunks of the surface.

Upon reaching the substrate, we’re going to create a flat finish by sanding and priming the layer.

The last step in the process is to clean up any debris. We’re going to carefully vacuum and make sure that we clean the space properly and thoroughly.
